Developing Diplomacy recently had the honor of attending a special event at the Embassy of Iraq in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Iraqi Children Foundation (ICF). The event was focused on raising awareness and support for Iraqi orphans and vulnerable children, highlighting the critical work ICF is doing on the ground.
One of the most amazing moments of the event was meeting the ICF’s Young Ambassadors, who shared their personal stories of resilience. These courageous individuals have not only overcome significant challenges themselves but now stand as beacons of hope for Iraqi children facing similar hardships. Their accounts underscored the vital role organizations like ICF play in transforming the lives of children in Iraq.
During the event, I had the privilege of meeting several key figures, including the Chairman of the Board for ICF, Advisors, Embassy officials, and long-time supporters. They provided deeper insights into the profound impact ICF’s programs are having on the most vulnerable communities in Iraq. We discussed the immediate need for continued resources and support to expand these life-changing services.
The notable initiative is the ICF Hope Bus—a mobile classroom that brings education, healthcare, and counseling directly to at-risk children. This innovative program is just one example of how ICF is bridging the gap in critical services for underserved children in Iraq.
It was inspiring to hear the work that ICF and its local partners are doing to help the most underserved communities of children in Iraq and explore how Developing Diplomacy can partner in these efforts in the future.
